Intro to Risograph Printing and Operation

  • 5628 Airport Way S Suite 175 Seattle, WA USA (map)

WHAT WE’LL DO

This 4-hour workshop gets into the nitty gritty of Riso printing and is required to rent the studio! Learn the basics, including operating the presses, file prep, design considerations, printing from the computer, printing from the glass bed scanner, and troubleshooting the quirks. We will also discuss registration, paper options, and ink color choices. Every participant will have the opportunity to operate the press (change the drum, adjust scanning settings, work with registration issues) to print a 2-color, 8.5” x 11” print from digital files in an edition of 35. At the end of the workshop, we will exchange prints!

WHAT TO BRING

You will be printing a 2-color print from digital files:

  • Bring your files on a thumb drive or on your laptop formatted as:

    • 2 grayscale PDFs between 300-600dpi (one grayscale file for each color layer)

    • No larger than 8.5" x 11"

    • Can be anything! Drawing, photography, text, etc.

  • If you need assistance with your files, we will go over that in class, so no pressure to have something ready before class!

  • You can also email the files to us, if that is easier - info@paperpresspunch.com

WORKSHOP FEE

We have a sliding scale structure ($75 - $115) and encourage you to pay what you can.
